VOCALIST! CROWD MOTIVATOR! SOCIAL COMMENTATOR!

As
an MC, he sings, screams, chants and flows his original and often
ironic lyrics in a multitude of styles. His own voice during one
track, a highly-pitched, robotic female's the next - all the while
bending and blending elements of rock, rap, punk, pop, dancehall,
spoken word, and gospel into music that causes dancing seizures in
even the coolest of hipsters!
ANTON BOMB began singing into a mousse can right after he
discovered that he could not perform a back spin!!!...
Born in Chicago and
raised in Arkansas; his four food groups growing up were rock, rap,
redneck, and redial! By the age of thirteen, he regularly attended
all-ages hip-hop clubs, listening to groups like Newcleus, Run DMC,
Gucci Crew, Too Short, and Sir-Mix-A-Lot (who he would years later
go on to open for) while simultaneously thrashing about to glam rock
and hard metal concerts at local hick-town coliseums. Not to mention
house parties. LOTS of house parties!
At the mustache-less
age of sixteen, while spending high school lunches in the arts lab
and class periods at the local mall, or getting buzzed down by the
river, college friends turned him on to everything from S'express to
My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult; Diamanda Galas to Laurie
Anderson. On the weekends, he and cohorts often escaped out of state
to Memphis, Dallas, Nashville, or New Orleans to attend real
clubbing events or the newest series of raves. Which, in those days
and locations, were international events!
"No one danced
the same, spoke the same, looked the same, much less, dressed the
same! The scene was still forming, so everything kept changing.
There was so much emphasis on community through individuality!"
This ensnared
him!
By an eager eighteen,
Anton was dancing his feet bloody at twenty one-plus clubs, with
multiple fake ids in check. During this period, Belgian techno and
Italo-house music were blaring at many an acid-house party or chic
boutique; places where he could find refuge from the rebel flag!
Then, with a hot glue gun in one hand, and a light-up thing-a-ma-bob
in the other, he became a go-go dancer, performance artist, and
occasional stripper for a city block-sized metropolis of a southern
gay nightclub called Discovery and its' lesbian annex Backstreet.
There, he regularly shook it 'till dawn on stage for a crowd of
hundreds; each week busting out in some, new, over the top outfit!
(Think "Flashdance"
on acid).
He danced most
weekends there for over two years.
Anton was also crossing over into the gothic and industrial scene at
that time. Thanks to friend and accidental mentor the reputed
writer, Clint Catalyst, he began wetting his feet in spoken word,
journalism, and hosting late-night college radio. They would often
performed one of Clint's many pieces at nearby coffeehouses, college
festivals, or the occasional gay themed, political forum afterparty.
Already well versed in creative writing and theatre, spoken word was
the most sensible and attractive, next step.
Things were progressing nicely...yet, very slowly. In order to
immerse himself more deeply into the arts and music, something
finally had to give. Upon a few Californian friends'
recommendations, Anton moved to San Francisco just weeks after
turning twenty one. There, he ran with the super fabulous,
diva-bitch crowd for a stint, making the occasional paparazzi shot
or wacky "art" flick for a new, hot spot: all the while craving a
scene more focused on music and community.
One
year later, A. Bomb moved to Seattle. He immediately jumped into the
mix as either performer, staff, or both at many a venue (his resume
includes: show host, stage manager, fire performer, installation
artist, flyer guy, model, designer, consultant, DJ, and more). After
ceaseless nightlife endeavors for several years (and throwing
legendary, bi-annual house parties), it was time to take a step back
and return to writing. This eventually morphed into lyrics. The next
logical move was to buy some gear and crash head-on into music. With
no training other than knowing how to spin records and emotionally
bleed into a microphone, he wrote songs nonstop for over a year by
night, and rehearsed them quietly in his tiny apartment by day.
Then everything changed! A club owner friend offered Anton a Sunday
monthly slot at The Mercury nightclub. He had promoted afterhours
nights at Machinewerks, The Mercury's previous incarnation, and
actually helped in putting some finishing touches on The Mercury
itself. In the Summer of 2003, CLUB YES! was born. CLUB YES! was an
amalgam of entities! Part monthly sci-fi cabaret, part interactive
nightclub! In short, a complete and total happening, every third
Sunday night. It combined DJ music, live PAs, spoken word, visual
arts, performance art, fashion shows, vendors, psychic mediums, and
more pageantry than a pride parade on prozac (not to mention,
complimentary catered food and champagne)! Each month had varied
themes, too. Along with dear friends and local artisan-fixtures,
Jade and Kristina (of The Oracle Gatherings, Pure Cirkus, and
K.A.O.S. fame), Anton would toil all month long with a host of
amazing local collaborators and still loyal supporters (including
resident DJs NAHA, Discovery, Samuel Kirkland, and Xrtstian) to
create a warm and invigorating alternative to an often humdrum,
Seattle nightlife. It was there that Anton began his career as an
electronic vocalist and MC, performing original song lyrics and
on-the-fly MC shenanigans with whatever DJs or bands who were
playing each night.
CLUB YES! ran for a
full year at The Mercury and finished its' run by traveling to the
Nevada desert for Burning Man in September of 2004. While attending
his first year at Burning Man, Anton left his own club in the
capable hands of others and decided to march with the K.A.O.S. crew
from Seattle - to do a roaming fire parade instead. Thus,
CLUB YES!
went down in a
blaze of glory!
And Anton had
officially moved onward.
Just two months after returning from The Playa, ANTON BOMB was
recruited by the SHAMELESS warriors. SHAMELESS, (a multi-level
electronic/rock hybrid collective consisting of DJs, producers,
promoters, digital artists and more), is one of the Northwest's
premiere music and digital arts production/promotion teams. Since
2003, they have continually bridged the gap between underground
mayhem and recognized talent for diverse audiences up and down the
west coast - with members in Seattle, San Francisco, Portland, and
Los Angeles. Anton has been performing with them for two
years......and could not be happier! Joining the Shameless ranks has
proven to be his most enjoyable, professional and creative
collaboration to date - giving him the progressive platform and
extended family that he needs to thrive. From promoting and hosting
the Decibel Festival's main afterparties (2004-2006), shows with
Smash TV (Bpitch control) and Damien Lazarus (Crosstown rebels
founder), Modeselektor, and others in Portland and Seattle, setting
up a Castle Superstore sponsored stage for the Seattle Gay Pride
Parade (2005), to Guerilla-style house parties all over the map! No
road is too high, nor too low for SHAMELESS......So long as rockin'
fists are pounding the air and shakin' asses are causing
earthquakes!
