FOC:EYE
(foe k’eye): |
Biography: Self trained at the institute of the street, FOC:EYE is multi-disciplinary guerilla visual artist Ren Yoneyama manifested as a VJ or live, visual projectionist. Visual art that ends up in cafes soon becomes pointless. No one can afford overpriced, under appreciated art that hangs on walls. The majority does not understand conceptualized work that takes up more space then they themselves can afford to live in. These thoughts lead Ren to transform himself into FOC:EYE by night; a Japanese anime superhero or self stylized yakuza villain who can never show up for set up on time (according to Recess). FOC:EYE slips into full manual mode during Shameless events and then renders onto screens the ultimate in designer kitsch vanity; new wave fashionista-ism, sophisto- punk violence, and retro sci-fi futurism. He does this via his monstrous 15 lbs of pure, black marketed, Taiwanese extreme desktop replacement notebook. Edited shot video clips, ripped and manipulated DVD segments, and self-created motion graphic animations are layered and mixed in some ghetto VJ app that’s chock full of bugs... The future for this electropunkrawknowaver artist lies in videography and documentary making. As he’s just now a proud owner of the Sony DSR-PD170, his next step is to exploit some cameraman / broadcast opportunities / possibilities in LA, his hometown which he hasn’t returned to since the early nineties. From there, after gaining some experience, there will be an even deeper pilgrimage back to the land of the rising sun, Tokyo to be specific, to create guerilla street documentaries. It’s FOC:EYE’s secret objective to spread the Shameless’ brand of Electro throughout Tokyo as giving people there trappings to adhere to is like giving a dog a bone. This will set the scene for Shameless to come take a vacation and dominate... Kampai! Although some chemicals may be attempting to bond onto the neuro-receptors of FOC:EYE’s brain during performances, the inhuman replicant (as quoted by Justin Byrnes) really goes into full automatic party mode after hours. Contrary to gremlins, the best of Shameless enlivens after they get fed lots o’ ‘stuff’ after 2am and well into the day after... |
