Ms. Dank

Thursday, November 24th, 2011

“…the closest thing to a legitimate pop star from the Northwest, but still maintains something of a DIY aesthetic. That she is able to combine the two seemingly mutually exclusive ideas and has a knack for putting together catchy pop songs is part of what makes her so interesting and exciting to me.” ..
-Three Imaginary Girls

We *heart* Lisa Dank and are excited to finally get her on the bill for one of our parties. Check out a recent release of hers on Shiny Disco Club’s Millennium Disco Comp. Vol 2. Loving the disco vibe!

Space Love

She’ll be performing live with DJ Nark of Nark Magazine at midnight this Saturday night at ETG.

We’re always proud to see our hardworking local DJs/Producers getting recognition outside of our little corner of the world. Big ups to Astronomar of Filejerks for his latest release off Discobelle Records.

FLEA MARKET REUNION at The Social Saturday Oct 22nd

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

Shameless welcomes the reunion of the infamous DJ collective FLEA MARKET to Electric Tea Garden! Formed in 2004 by Brent Tactic & Verse (aka Josh Roberts), Flea Market was a DJ collective dedicated to blending a multitude of genres ranging from electro, IDM, hip-hop and techno to deep house, glitch, tech-house and ghetto-tech. The idea was not to simply play one genre all night, but to cross-pollinate multiple genres into DJ set and make it the end result sound fun and exciting. Resident DJs Kadeejah Streets, Greg Skidmore, and Scratchmaster Joe joined Flea Market during its 2 ½ year residency at Chapel, where crazy nights of mad tag-teaming DJ sets ensued. Curious? Listen to a recording from a Flea Market party back in 2006: www.soundcloud.com/flea-market

Five years later, Flea Market reunites for one special night with The Social resident Recess. Expect lots of crazy tag-team sets from the Flea Market DJs all night long! Tactic headlines with what promises to be a fierce set largely focused on the growing moonbahton movement.

TACTIC = BEN TACTIC + BRENT TACTIC (Think 2wice, Bubblin – KC/PDX)

Tactic is a DJ and production team made up of Ben Tactic and Brent Tactic. The pair started working together in 2002 and immediately began to build on the success of their individual music careers. Ben’s background is based in electronic dance music and he cut his teeth playing warehouses, lofts and clubs all over the Midwest. Brent experienced great success in the hip-hop scene and split his time between djing and running an independent hip-hop label.

The two found common creative ground with the burgeoning music scene that ignored genre boundaries. Their focus became the best possible music from a broad cross section of club culture. Their 4 turntable dj sets blur the line between hip-hop, electronic and club music to get everyone’s asses shaking.

Tactic has proven just as productive in the studio as they are in the club. Their remixes and original productions have garnered international attention with plays on NYC’s East Village Radio and London’s prestigious KISS FM and BBC Radio1 as well as getting in rotation in the dj sets of Diplo, Sinden, Tittsworth, Starkey, Jackmaster, Dave Nada, Cosmo Baker and Eli Escobar. To date they have had remixes and original tracks released on labels such as Mad Decent, Dress 2 Sweat (Numbers), Starkey’s label Slit Jockey, Palms Out Sounds, Datura Records and their own label Think 2wice. With Ben now living in PDX running the groundbreaking night Bubblin and Brent residing in KC, this is a rare chance to see them perform together.

Decibel Festival Afterglow with Never Enough

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

It’s 5:15 am at the Rebar on Saturday night (or is that considered Sunday morning?) and the dance floor is packed. Cajmere, looking cool in his shades, takes a lively Seattle crowd on a trip through Chicago house before handing over the decks to Detroit’s Mike Huckaby. From there, Mike carries the dancefloor until the bar reopens when bloody mary’s and mimosas start flowing freely. Happy Decibel!!

Once again, Seattle proved to the world that electronic music has a home here. We here at Shameless have been honored to have played a part in Decibel Festival each year since it’s incarnation 8 years ago. It’s been an incredible journey watching the Festival grow and yet still remain solidly connected to the local underground music scene. This  year it was particularly exciting for us to return to the Electric Tea Garden for the recommended Friday night db afterparty. Our sincerest apologizes to those of you that weren’t able to make it in. The venue filled up faster than we had anticipated and the management decided to hold the door. But with our new friends from Rock It Science LabsMax Cooper and Cyanwave holding it down, the party kept going until past 8am so hopefully you came by later if you weren’t able to make it in right away. Much love to the ETG staff for hosting.

It was also a joy to collaborate with our good friends at Innerflight. Rebar hadn’t ever held a raging afterparty before and we’re so grateful they took a chance on us. Combining one of our favorite venues with one of our favorite local crews, meant magic was inevitable. Joe Bellingham set the stage with a live set (check out the link below to download) while Holger Zilske of Smash TV kept the crowd moving until 4am. From there…well, you needed to be there to know. Or wait until the official video recap which is coming soon.

In the meantime…Thank you to all of our friend, supporters and volunteers over the years. Thank you Decibel. Thank you Seattle.

Here is an exclusive LINK to the recording of Joe Bellingham’s Live Set.

Max Cooper headlining this Friday’s “Afterglow”

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Max Cooper is a rare, versatile and forward-thinking gem in the increasingly compartmentalized and somewhat cold world of dance music.  Where many rising producers establish themselves by carving out narrow niche sounds or quickly adapting to the latest trend, Max is constantly pushing musical boundaries while also embracing a rich history of dance music.  His production crosses the gamut from quirky, syncopated late night techno, to peak-hour tech-house, to ethereal, early morning ambient and IDM, all with his distinctly rich analog sounding synthlines and oldschool progressive house sentiments.  His chart topping original productions and remixes for artists as diverse as Hot Chip, Portishead, Sasha, John Tejada, Extrawelt, and many others are garnering him stellar reviews and a well-deserved international fan base.  Shameless is incredibly excited to be hosting Max at our “AfterGlow” Decibel Festival after hours, late night this Friday at Seattle’s Electric Tea Garden.  Joining him will be DJ Fame (New York), Eric Sharp (SF), Cyan Wave (Seattle) and our own Recess and Levi Clark.  Get there early, as we are only doing tickets at the door and there is A LOT of hype for this show!

In the meantime, click the link below to check out Max’s great live set of all original production, “Modus,” available for download on his Soundcloud account.

Just in time for dB Festival…Moustache Rides!

Monday, September 26th, 2011

Check out this hot new mixtape by one of SF’s hardest working DJ/Producer/Label owner, Eric Sharp. After making a name for himself throwing warehouse parties in the Bay Area, Eric’s now focusing much of his attention on remix projects, original productions and launching of his independent label Rock It Science Laboratories. The latter he runs with NYC counterpart DJ Fame.

Both DJ Fame and Eric Sharp will be joining us this Friday at our Decibel Festival afterparty Afterglow at the Electric Tea Garden.

Back in time! Shameless Afterparty at Decibel Festival 2006

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Hard to believe that we’re fast approaching the 8th year of Decibel Festival here in Seattle. Shameless and Decibel both grew up at the same time and have collaborated on numerous events over the years. In fact, some would argue that Decibel Festival itself sprouted from the grassroots of the local electronic music communities while being spearheaded by it’s fearless (and quite ambitious) leader, Sean Horton (aka Nordic Soul). Each year it grows and each year the reputation of the festival builds to it’s current internationally recognized status. The good peoples within the organization are family and those that contribute from the outside are simply passionate about the music, the community and our beautiful city of Seattle. We’re proud to be here and are looking forward to welcoming our guests to our little corner of the world. There will be more features to come, but in the meantime, here’s a little video clip from Decibel 2006. It was our 3rd year in a row throwing official afterparties for the festival and this particular event took place at The Mercury which is a long established underground industrial/goth club. Ahh the memories! Tekgnosis was performing a live set behind the barbed wire fencing of the DJ booth at around 4am or so. One of the members of Tekgnosis went on to form Nerd Revolt, which is a fantastic electronic music duo based in SF consisting of m.0 and the iLL.F.O. Be sure to check them out too!

Sounds From The Sound #13 – Seattle’s Gunnar Lockwood

Gunnar Lockwood

Just before J.Phlip played her surprise guest DJ set at last months Social (ETG), Gunnar threw down a fierce live set that had the entire dance floor fired up. In case you missed it, Joe Bellingham’s Sounds from the Sound podcast this month features a fantastic example of why you should be paying attention to this up and coming live techno producer/performer.
