Beats, Booze, Bacon and The Breakfast Club!

Thursday, December 27th, 2012

Heheheheheh

This is Shameless HQ writing to remind all you Seattle freaks of where you should be spending your New Year’s Day. Whether you rest all of New Year’s Eve, get way too wasted before midnight and pass out in a gutter, party with Innerflight ’til the breaka-breaka dawn or are STILL UP from last weekend’s Shameless “Social” monthly, you would do yourself a favor by stumbling on over to the Electric Tea Garden, getting yourself an ice cold beverage, writing/speaking run-on sentences, and listening to some hot as hell dance music at about 6am until the wee hours of the afternoon on New Year’s Day. That’s right, we’re presenting another edition of our now infamous Breakfast Club party, featuring food, booze and two areas of music insanity from 6am-4pm.

For those of you were there last year, this should be a no-brainer. For those of you who weren’t, you’ll just have to come see if all the rumors are true. Will there be more phenomenal sets by some of Seattle’s favorite dance music legends? Definitely! Will there be incredibly awesome performance art? You betcha!… although this time it will be by Gaydolf and the Golden Showers, as Tons of F***ing Sequins are now signed to a major label and way out of our league… Will a man strangely resembling Zach Galifinakis blow us all away with his unique and only slightly creepy brand of awesomeness? Hopefully! Will Principal Vernon show up? Probably not. Will there be a metric shit-ton of bacon? Probably yes. Will there be at least some bacon? MOST DEFINITELY! Will there be booze-a-plenty? YES! It will be flowing like Manna from heaven (or, at least, from ETG’s exceptionally competent and tolerant bar staff)!!! Will Adlib be playing another exceptionally rad closing set? No… alas, he can’t make it, as he will be on a plane to Hawaii… but that means you guys all just have to get twice as stupid for him!

We guess at some point we should stop writing and share the details. Well, for those of you still around, here they are!

Dance yrself clean

Friday, December 30th, 2011

New Year’s Eve parties usually involve some serious planning. Otherwise you may find yourself unsuccessfully attempting to hail a cab at 11:49pm with just minutes to get across town before the clock hits midnight. We’ve all been there. This year Shameless recommends the following parties and yes, if you plan accordingly you may even be able to hit them all! Either way, they each represent a piece of Seattle’s vibrant underground dance music community that’s like no other city in this country. Ok maybe we’re a little biased. But we love you Seattle. Have a safe and happy new year!

See you at breakfast!

Back in time! Shameless Afterparty at Decibel Festival 2006

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Hard to believe that we’re fast approaching the 8th year of Decibel Festival here in Seattle. Shameless and Decibel both grew up at the same time and have collaborated on numerous events over the years. In fact, some would argue that Decibel Festival itself sprouted from the grassroots of the local electronic music communities while being spearheaded by it’s fearless (and quite ambitious) leader, Sean Horton (aka Nordic Soul). Each year it grows and each year the reputation of the festival builds to it’s current internationally recognized status. The good peoples within the organization are family and those that contribute from the outside are simply passionate about the music, the community and our beautiful city of Seattle. We’re proud to be here and are looking forward to welcoming our guests to our little corner of the world. There will be more features to come, but in the meantime, here’s a little video clip from Decibel 2006. It was our 3rd year in a row throwing official afterparties for the festival and this particular event took place at The Mercury which is a long established underground industrial/goth club. Ahh the memories! Tekgnosis was performing a live set behind the barbed wire fencing of the DJ booth at around 4am or so. One of the members of Tekgnosis went on to form Nerd Revolt, which is a fantastic electronic music duo based in SF consisting of m.0 and the iLL.F.O. Be sure to check them out too!

NEW NIGHT!! Bangers & Mash launch party w/ Drop the Lime

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Bangers & Mash is a new Thursday night weekly at the See Sound Lounge. Local DJs such as Fourcolorzack, Tigerbeat, Shameless’ very own Recess and more will holding it down each week starting April 30th. For the launch party our Trouble & Bass homie will be making a special appearance from NYC. Decibel’s own Nordic Soul will be joining Recess in the front room and Tigerbeat & Fourcolorzack will be mashing it up in the back. Two rooms and one hell of a party!! Thursday nights in Seattle just got a lot more interesting. Plus, mark your calanders as Tommie Sunshine & Tittworth will be making an appearance in may and June, respectively.

What happened to the last month?

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Since our last post was almost a month ago it might take a moment to recap…

  • Shameless teamed up with Decibel to throw back to back afterparties. The first one at the Clubhouse was only for the hardcore since it took place nye eve (aka the 30th). Kilowatts was our special surprise guest and locals Adlib (P.O.E.), Andrew Luck & Nordic Soul all tore it up. As you can see below our photograper Dave Matthews was having fun with double exposure. Click on the picture to see more!

  • The second afterparty for nye almost never happened. At 4:15pm on nye, Shameless HQ got the call from the venue renter who sadly reported that his space wasn’t not an option anoymore. Since we were all still waking up from the night before, we sat around asking ourselves what we should do. Here’s the dilemma… both John Tejada and Alex Smoke are in town and want to play our afterparty. So we decided to shoot a text message out into the dark and our good friend offered to open up his loft space for our party. About six hours later after lugging speakers across the city, we’re cracking open a beer and toasting the new year with our friends while Tejada lays down an incredibly deep and beautiful set until 3:30am when Smoke takes over. An amazing night rose from the ashes of a party that got canceled last minute. With humilty and thankfulness for the strength of the local electronic music community, we here at Shameless considered our good fortunes as 2009 got underway.
  • On January 16th, Broken Disco returned with a vengence… Chop Suey installed a new sound system that helped stepped things up in the main room and we brought in a KV2 system for the Make Out Lounge. Yes we are sound snobs. Get over it! It seemed Frivolous and the Martin Brothers appreciated it too. Everyone that played stepped up their game. Thanks to everyone that came out!! WE *HEART* BROKEN DISCO! Check out the pictures by clicking below…

  • Speaking of pictures, Sparks Fountain (aka Recess & Kadeejah Streets getting ridiculous behind the decks) made another appearance recently at Produkt’s monthly event entitled Analog. Armed with about 15 mexican wrestling masks, a fog machine and a slew filthy bass jams they proceeded to pack the dancefloor while their tongues were painted orange from the frothy beverage (RIP Sparks). More pictures below…

  • Lastly… make sure you mark Feb 2oth on your calanders. Broken Disco is coming again!!

Shameless & NAHA Army Present…

BALLS OUT! Series 3
Friday October 10th @ Rebar

**WARRIORS THEMED COSTUME PARTY!**

Warriors, come out to play-ay! In the spirit of tough journeys, Coney Island homecomings, and keeping away from those that would hold you down, October’s edition of Balls Out! encourages costumes of the gritty, gang-filled Gotham sort. In addition to Wonder Wheel memories and sexy leather vests, this month’s show features top-notch Live Performances from 2 of Seattle’s most talented producers. Incite! aka Nordic Soul aka Sean Horton aka Mr. Decibel will bring out a heated electronic dance set. Also, prepare to be blown away by dark horse entry, AJ Spider Sorbello. Expect a filthy, electro-bass set from this local.

The Balls Out! crew has lots of great tricks and treats in store for this month. In addition to blistering live sets from Incite! and AJ Spider Sorbello, resident DJ sets from Recess and NAHA, this month’s features custom costumes by Babe of Belltown (Match Game), a Studio 75 Exclusive Fashion Show by Capitol Hill fashion icon Sir Rayven Blakk, Live Art by Kinoko of Fourthcity and Eli Heuer with Special Guest Artist Rondo (http://rondogoon.blogspot.com/). Of course we’ll have extra sound support by Shameless, with hosts Menami and MC Anton Bomb and photographs by DaveMatthewsPhoto.com.

Balls Out! is a new monthly event that joins the forces of Shameless, NAHA Army, Fourthcity and many of our supportive and gifted friends at dance-friendly venue and favorite, the Re-Bar. Can you Balls Out?

**MUSIC**

Incite! (Live – Decibel)

http://www.myspace.com/nordicsoul

You may have heard of him before. He throws this little annual party called Decibel Festival. We booked him because his live sets as Incite! are bad ass. Some of you already know that after catching him at Sole Repair last Thursday. We’re looking forward to hearing him tear it up without the stress and worries of a massive event. Just some live kicking techno beats at everyone’s favorite local venue, the Rebar.

Aj Spider Sorbello (Live)

http://www.myspace.com/ajspidersorbello
AJ Spider Sorbello was born in Sacramento, California. After attending his first underground event at age 11, AJ had found himself in a life changing experience. By 15 he was already DJing at numerous underground events. From 2001 on he’s been DJing regularly with world class talent at massive events. Lately much of his time as been spent in the studio producing his own tracks which range across the spectrum of dance music genres. Although he DJs and produces multiple genres you can hear the quality in all of his tracks. Click the link above and check out some of them on myspace.
We really looking forward to hearing what he puts together for his debut live set at Balls Out!

Plus Residents Recess & Naha
————————————–

**ART**

Live art by Fourthcity’s wonder woman, Kinoko. Joined by Eli Hueur & special guest Rondo. The talent in this little three person pool is incredible. Each month Kinoko and Eli invite special guest artists down to join them in whatever live art form this choose that night. Check out Rondo’s blog here… http://rondogoon.blogspot.com/
————————————–

**FASHION**

Studio 75 Exclusive fashion show will be led by Sir Brigadier General Thomas RayVen Blakk II. Got that? Check it out here… http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=194556132

**YOU**

Choose a Warriors Gang and come dance at the Rebar! We’ll be starting around 10pm and going until at least 2:30am…maybe later. Can you dig it?
